Beautiful day even though it reached 90 degrees and we don't have airconditioning ...big grocery day as I had mah jongg here tonight...I made the best salad....For the greens I used green leaf lettuce and baby spinach which I washed well and dried...then I cooked 3 ears of delicious long Island milk and honey corn for 4 minutes and then blanched it in cold water..and sliced the kernels off in large pieces...add the corn to the greens...add a cup of washed fresh blueberries and one of those long cucumbers that are burp less sliced into fairly thin circles. for a dressing I put the juice of one lemon and equal amounts of olive oil, a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of mustard and half cup of orange juice...mix well...it looks beautiful and taste even better.
went to the nursery and bought the rest of the herbs for the herb garden...so excited I got tarragon ...that is always hard to find...I also got some lantania to remind me of Arizona...where it grows as a perennial...coming back larger every year...I am always cutting it back...here i find it hard to just keep it growing...It needs a lot of water here...and I guess in Arizona it is watered every other day as that happens automatically.
Love my mah jongg sisters...we had a therapy night more talking than playing...it was fun and i did win one game. We talked about how lucky we were as we all feel good about growing older...only wish our children would see us by the age and not how we look...We all love babysitting though even though it wears us out...and none of us is full of energy like we use to be...but we keep going like the energizer bunny...We decided we could all use some help with chores we use to do by rote.
Joe got the boat ready to put in the water tomorrow...painted the bottom with marine paint so the bugs in the water wont eat it...he worked so hard...he has more energy than all of us mah jongg girls put together...
