70 and counting

It was a strange day...always looked like it was going to rain or that the sun was really out for good... and then it would rain...got all the plants outside for a drink from G-d...did all the laundry from our trip, went shopping for the sundries that were on sale...baby wipes were on sale for 2.49  and I had 2- $2 coupons...good to have in the house..or on a trip.  went to Cosco and got some great halibut from Alaska...and then while the sun was still shinning did 2 garbage cans full of weeds...now that the spring and early summer blooms have started to fade I am weeding some of the plants out as some have spread beyond their boundaries...but while in bloom were too beautiful to destroy...some I will transplant and others give away and some will go to the garbage man...
I made this fabulous recipe called heavenly halibut and it was...and so easy...broil the halibut 2 shelves down from the broiler with a little butter and fresh garlic until it flakes...8-10 minutes...while it is broiling, mix one half teaspoon mustard, 1 large tablespoon mayonnaise, 1 large tablespoon Parmesan cheese, fresh dill and parsley cut up..about a teaspoon each and a teaspoon butter.  blend well...when fish starts to flake remove it from broiler and spoon this mixture on top..sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and place in broiler until it starts to brown and bubbles...watch it closely so it doesn't burn...but browns nicely...yumo as Rachel Ray says.  Crochet and watched a little television...and finally finished all of my thank you notes and phone calls...just have to address and mail them now...It was a day of small accomplishments...sometimes I feel guilty that I am not doing earth shattering things...but I must remember that everyday is a gift and that just by doing I am not wasting it...I did have one profound realization...I remembered how my dad carried the laundry for my mom and I thought that was so sweet as he never helped her before...and now Joe always carries the laundry down the stairs and up the stairs for me...Oh yes it is nice to have a man around the house at any age...but especially when you are aging up.
