Friday
A day of chilly unusual weather...sweatshirt one hour, sweating the next...a delightful slow morning enjoying coffee and the newspaper...then over to the beach to do a bit of work getting the cottage ready for the kids, who will be coming for father's day...We stopped at the little fish store in Setauket and got our fried flounder sandwich to start summer at the beach...It has become a tradition for us to bring a fish sandwich from this store for about 20 years to start the summer fun feeling...just the two of us..before that it was six kids and peanut butter and jelly...the proprietor at the fish store has changed many times, but the sandwich is always fresh and delicious and is so adult and easy ...On the way home a quick stop at the store and I bought a really cute top to wear with my summer pants suit. Then it was out to dinner with friends...lobster again...the joy of living on an island in the eastern united states...fresh fish and lobster. And then we went to temple. It was a joyous service tonight, kids, music and prayer and a special blessing for my birthday..I so enjoyed praying with my honey at my side. I love singing praise to G-d...it fills me up and my cup just runneth over. After temple we went with our friends back to their house and played some Mexican train. It was a great day and even though we didn't do anything extraordinary we both felt accomplished and connected to one another. I am slowly realizing that I need to concentrate on being the best I can , being a good friend, enjoy my children and grandchildren as often as possible; since they are so scattered; and love my honey....and not on what major thing can I become involved in...

I miss having truly fresh fish -- it's just not the same in DC :(
